Matthew Mason (born 26 March, 1997) started drumming aged 3 and began receiving drum lessons from the age of 6.
Matthew passed grade 8 Drum Kit with distinction aged 10, and achieved the Trinity College LTCL Diploma with Distinction at aged 14.
Matthew has worked with a variety of musical groups and bands including the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra for 4 years, Redbridge Music School orchestras and a number of Rock and Fusion Bands.
Other notable achievements include playing percussion for ‘Les Miserables’ and ‘Babes in Arms’; Percussionist at The Royal Albert Hall for the Redbridge Choral Festival and regularly playing with the LSO at The Barbican Hall, London. He has played many London venue gigs including the O2 Islington, Bridgehouse 2 Canning Town, and the Monto Water Rats, Kings Cross.
Matthew’s influences include Marco Minnemann, Rush, Mark Schulman, Dave Weckl, Billy Cobham, and Jo Jo Mayer. His current drum mentors are Bob Armstrong & Toby Goodman. Past drum teachers have included Malcolm Ball, Luke Wastell, Darren Ashford and David Humphreys.
